I had a 2600, NES, SNES, TG-16, N64, and PS before I moved out of the house. I paid for part or all of each of them (except the 2600).

Oh yeah, I had to pay for all of my console. And if I get a Wii I imagine I'll pay for that too.

Currently angry at capitalism. Just occurred to me how cold hearted it is to sell a wii on ebay. Thousands of people wanting to play some video games not getting a wii, and thousands of people buying wii just to extort people who actually do want to play with them.

I've decided I want a Wii. It'll be my very first console, unless you count a Radio Shack Pong game purchased for me by my grandpa more years ago than I'm interested in contemplated.

My parents wouldn't let me have a video game system. I had to hide my SNES that I had saved and scrounged money for forever and went with a friend to buy so that they would never see it. Went for about a year until they found me playing it and it's like "oh, yeah, I've had this awhile." Things have been better since.

Portable systems they never had trouble with me having, so I had my GameBoy since I was, like, 10 or something. But they had big issues with anything that hooked up to a TV because they thought it broke it or something.

Oh, and before you make a final decision on the Wii if you want one or not, head to a EB Games or Gamestop with a kiosk up and ask the flunkie behind the counter for a Wiimote. They might need to hold your drivers' license or credit card. Regardless, ExciteTruck will probably be in it, and it's GRAND fun.

Can I play the Wii using a 24" iMac as a display (via USB TV tuner thingy)? I hope so.

I wonder if it's possible to play MAME games on the Wii? Though I guess it's unnecessary if I'm using an iMac as a monitor ... just go with Macmame.

I think a USB tuner would cause lag. I know that it will on the original eyeTV.

I'm very interested in seeing what homebrew does with the Virtual Console portions of the Wii.

the store here has neither the PS3 or the Wii. They have two drawing boxes, they will pull names on December 2 and call these people, who will have seven days to come to the store to buy whichever system they put in for. I put my name in the Wii box. Damnit. They still don't have GoW. :whaa:

High resell won't last very long; at least not compared to the PS3 rates on eBay. Even though the Wii is sold out now there will be new shipments within the next week or so. The same can't be said about the PS3.

As much as I think it's a little unethical to resell this way, I would definitely stop short of calling it extortion...

Take back your unopened memory card. Go to RadioShack. Get the 1GB SanDisk generic SD card. Instant rebate, then mail in rebate = $13.

Oh, and I woke up at 3:45, drove an hour to Cookeville, dropped by the Wal-Mart. No shipment. Continued to EB Games. Five people in line. The front two guys say that they were expecting only two units. Guy in front of me says I should be okay because he was told six. 5:30 AM.

Shortly before 6:50, I have about 30 people behind me in line. Including a lady that says she was told between 6-22 units. Employee arrives, pulls out tickets, hands out...

Wal-Mart reports they're getting a shipment of 30 units at 10am. I have to be at work, can't wait around, dad comes down for me, bless his heart and trolls the Wal-Mart waiting for the UPS truck.

Neither Wal-Mart got a shipment. What the fuck.

I am having the worst luck with this thing.

They made plenty, they just didn't ship their entire stock out at once. Quite a few stores already restocked after launch in time for Black Friday.
